Ryan Estabrooks was born and raised in Midwest City, Oklahoma and as a child, became fascinated with writing. He started out using comic books as an inspiration, creating his own while in preschool using markers, lots of paper, and whatever else he could find. While writing as often as he could, he began fantasizing about becoming an actor. Around age 12, he was given a small camcorder and started experimenting with it, creating shorts and skits with anyone from the neighborhood who wanted to help out. Unbeknownst to him, this would be the first steps taken towards a career of filmmaking.

Around the same age, he became obsessed with music and longed to create some of his own. Starting out in simple electronic production, he branched out to learning piano and guitar a few years later. Around age 15, he dove into the field of screenwriting and wrote his very first screenplay. Ryan then went to several film chapters of local colleges, trying to get it read by anyone who would give him the time, even arranging meetings with film professors and producers.

After graduating from high school, he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in order to study audio engineering while continuing to write and direct in his free time. Around the same time he caught the acting bug and began studying with the Street Theatre Company. He made his theater debut with “Six Degrees of Separation” through the same company, followed by another turn in “The Wedding Singer” (Circle Players). He also plunged headfirst into photography as an extension of his love for film and the visual arts.

His influences include Jean-Luc Godard, John Cassavetes, Stanley Kubrick, Dennis Hopper, and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He has released several short films, web series, and is working on his first feature length film as writer/director.
