Welcome to another video in the Write Like series! Since yesterday saw the arrival of the first trailer for “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”, I thought we would celebrate by releasing a video lesson from the first “Jurassic World” movie.
In this lesson, I talk about a tactic the writers use to make us scared in a pivotal moment in the movie. They carefully and purposely lull us into a sense of “safety” using some clever tricks, and then pull the rug from under us. It’s a great example of clear setup and payoff that can help writers out there working on any kind of scene that needs to build tension.
